JULY, 2023—WEST-REP, Urban Office, Gensler NY, and PCI team up on a multi-product project for a Confidential Global Client.

West-Rep and Urban Office teamed up with the brilliant designers at Gensler NY and the talented installers at PCI Seattle to create a unique office space for this Confidential Global Client’s project.

SoundBar® Arktura’s acoustical baffle and lighting system and SoftGrid® Arktura’s acoustical modular systems were the main products used in this project. SoundBar® delivers high performance noise reduction and sleek integrated illumination in a single cost-effective, versatile product. It comes an assortment of finishes, lengths, widths, and depths. Typically hung in vertical or horizontal arrangements, the unconventional application of hanging the bars at different angles makes this ceiling really stand out.

The SoftGrid® family of ceiling elements open a multitude of possibilities for design and acoustical impact. Modules can be used as a singular feature or connected to create a dynamic architectural field. In this project the team used bold colors to make the ceiling a dramatic feature in the space.

JULY, 2023—WEST-REP assists Perkins & Will with creative workspace lounge areas and elevator lobbies.

The designers at Perkins & Will recreated the look of traditional timber trellis millwork with the trellis-like acoustic system of Arktura’s SoftSpan®.  The SoftSoundc material of the baffles is offered in a premium wood texture, to give off the look of a more traditional wooden ceiling without the weight and budget impact of using real lumber.  The compact grid is the ideal choice for a large open office area where noise can quickly become overwhelming. The trellis design maintains the open feel while adding enough texture and depth to the ceiling to make the room inviting.

Arktura’s SoftGrid® Acoustic Baffle designs go past function to bring a beautiful decorative element to any ceiling. SoftGrid® modules’ use high-performance, fully recyclable, sound-absorbing SoftSound® PET material. It is available in a wide range of colors and wood textures, with available custom finishing, to make creative opportunities virtually endless.

The amazing team at Anning-Johnson were the installers for this project.

FEBRUARY, 2023—WEST-REP helps project team select solutions that boost privacy and comfort with high-performance and attractive acoustical solutions.

WEST-REP partnered with the English Hong Architecture team as it evaluated options for acoustical baffle and lighting systems. They settled on the highly configurable, ultra-modern and uniquely capable SoundBar® acoustical and lighting solution. As a central hub for gathering, sound reduction was top of the team’s mind.

They have now also installed Atmosphera® Swell and will soon be installing SoftGrid® Switch. Each product features Arktura’s SoftSound® acoustical materials, which outperforms other solutions in their class, making it a perfect match for the stylish and functional uses expected of this space.

“Mahalo” to Sergei Melnikau and his incredible installation team, Castaway Construction and Restoration LLC, for bringing the design to life.

JANUARY, 2023—WEST-REP  had the pleasure of being fully immersed in our project for the Seattle Convention Center Summit with LMN Architects and Heartland Acoustics featuring SoftGrid® SkyLine by Arktura.

SkyLine’s acoustic ceiling modules were designed to look like an inverted skyline, as if a city lived on your ceiling. For a more dramatic look, the modules can be connected together to create a continuous, uninterrupted field of cityscape or can be shortened into smaller city blocks. And to avoid the loud city noise, SkyLine is made from Arktura’s Soft Sound® material, so you get acoustic comfort.

OCTOBER, 2022—Late last year, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Nancy Friend Pritzker Psychiatry Building earned Best In Class accolades from the IIDA Oregon Chapter during its 2022 Design Excellence Awards.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in San Francisco, designed by ZGF Architects Portland, won best design in the Oregon IIDA’s Healthcare-Large category. Among the building’s many stunning features is the soaring five-story atrium designed to promote openness, transparency, and community among the levels. ZGF Architects Portland designed the building to be a welcoming, light, and optimistic space for mental health care.

In 2017, ZGF engaged WEST-REP and Arktura to help customize the walls and panels, which support extensive use of daylighting, while providing visual and acoustical privacy.

”The Arktura team really out-performed itself in this design,“ said WEST-REP Founder Chris West.  ”The pattern was developed with ZGF using parametric modeling tools in order to flow and align with the pattern on the glass. Each panel is unique.“
